International Spotlight on Lowden Guitars as ZDF Visits the County Down Workshop

Recently, we proudly supported the team at Lowden Guitars with an exciting piece of media coverage, as we welcomed German television network ZDF to their County Down-based workshop. The visit culminated in a feature for ZDF titled “George Lowden baut Gitarren für die Stars”, which shone a spotlight not only on Lowden’s world-class guitars but also on the skilled and passionate team of craftspeople behind them, as well as the longstanding connection between Lowden and guitar players in Germany.

In addition to developing the pre-interview briefings, Impact supported the Lowden team on-the-ground whilst filming took place in the workshop in January with the inimitable Hilke Peterson and the ZDF team. Here, they got insight into, where every Lowden guitar begins its journey. Cameras captured the meticulous process of crafting a Lowden guitar from the careful selection of tone woods to the fine detailing that shapes each instrument.

George Lowden, Founder and Aaron Lowden, Managing Director

Founder George Lowden and Managing Director Aaron Lowden sat down for interviews, reflecting on Lowden’s origins as a world-renowned guitarmaker and the brand’s long-standing relationship with the German market. That connection dates to the 1980s, when players in Germany first embraced the brand’s character and understated elegance. Decades later, Germany remains a key market, with a strong community of musicians and dealers who continue to champion Lowden guitars.

The conversations also touched on the many respected artists who have chosen to play Lowden guitars over the years, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for quality, craftsmanship and integrity. Alongside this legacy, George and Aaron spoke about nurturing the next generation of craftspeople, refining designs, and continuing to innovate whilst staying true to the values that have guided the company from the beginning.

It was a pleasure to welcome Hilke and the ZDF team to the workshop and to see such a genuine interest in the people and processes behind the instruments. The resulting feature shines a well-deserved spotlight on Lowden’s enduring connection with Germany and its continued commitment to building world-class guitars.
